Accepting New Clients
Black Therapist in the Houston-Katy area
One of the most challenging things in anyone’s life is to admit they need help. I personally have struggled with asking for help and acknowledging that I no longer could cope with everything around me. When I went to counseling for the first time it changed how I thought about myself and others. That’s why I chose to be in this profession and give that sense of relief to my clients.
Although I cannot promise your life will be changed forever and all your problems disappear. I can offer that we can work together to start and promote healthy lifestyle changes that will eventually lead to a more fulfilling life.
As an African American woman and in training counselor I have worked with clients of various ages and ethnicities. One of the biggest things as a counselor is for my clients to feel safe with me and build a therapeutic relationship that is built off of the trust, relatability, and freedom that seeing an African American counselor could give you.
If you are still not sold on therapy, there are so many benefits for anyone, especially for people of color. Many people of color are less likely to receive treatment due to stigma, cultural mistrust toward health care providers, and the lack of access.
However, there are so many benefits to seeking help such as working through trauma, self-care tools, and having a safe space to explore topics such as trauma due to racial violence.
