Here to help you.
Hi! I am Sneha Nayar-Bhalerao, a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Counselor Educator. I was born and raised in India and moved to United States ten years go. Houston has been home since past six years. I have a Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology from Shreemati Nathibai Damodar Thackersey University (SNDT) in India and a Doctorate in Counselor Education from Texas A&M University – Corpus Christi. I currently serve as an Assistant Professor and Internship/Practicum Coordinator at University of Houston – Victoria in their Counselor Education Program. For over six years I have been teaching counseling courses and facilitating students training to be a counselor.
Even the darkest night will end and the sun will rise.
~ Victor Hugo
From a very young age, I had a strong desire to help people in distress and make a difference in their lives. I strongly believe one can overcome challenges with willingness and appropriate support. Everyone has the right to grow, evolve, and be happy. Over the past few years, I have worked with clients dealing with anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, relationship issues, self-esteem, and life transitions. I have also worked with survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault. Using a client centered approach to counseling, I create a non-threatening environment for my clients, where they feel safe to share their stories. A combination of therapeutic treatment methods like psychodynamic, cognitive behavioral, mindfulness-based, guides my practice. With empathetic listening, I help my clients establish goals and find newer perspectives to lives.
Apart from teaching and being a therapist, I am happily married to my high school sweetheart. My husband works as a Project Manager with a luxury home builder. Together we love playing with our toddler, doing outdoor activities, travelling, exploring new cuisines, and spending time with family and friends. Life can be distressing at times and it is okay, to ask for help. Working towards living a fulfilling life takes work and preparedness! I encourage you to take that first step and create a life worth living.
Fluent in Marathi, Malayalam and Hindi!
We can’t solve problems by using the same kind of thinking, we used, when we created them.
