Hi!

I’m Valerie Medina Hurst, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker.  I have a Masters of Science in Social Work for the University of Texas at Austin.  I have over 13 years of experience working with adolescents, families, parents, adults and couples.  I have worked in a variety of settings including outpatient, schools based community health clinics and behavioral hospitals. I am clinically licensed in TX, MD, and NM.

We all deserve freedom- freedom that comes from honoring our complexities, being true to ourselves and sharing our worth with the world. I can be a support as you work to reconnect to yourself. Sometimes our experiences, traumas, stressors, pains can subtly or not so subtly disconnect us from our values and identity. You might feel disheartened and stuck- struggling with the same patterns, with building meaningful connections, with living in the present. Struggling with forward movement. Therapy provides a space to process and understand ourselves and our experiences without shame or judgment in order for us to live a quality life.

As a clinical social worker, I consider all of your environmental, systemic & intergenerational factors. I integrate psychodynamic, cognitive & behavioral modalities. My therapeutic approach is client-centered, cultural affirming & trauma informed. I will honor your experiences, culture, background, wisdom, while helping you to address issues meaningfully.

Vulnerability is vital in therapy. I want to offer you a warm, freeing space in which you can come home to yourself in a meaningful, un-curated way. The therapeutic relationship is essential; we can see whether my style and skills are the best fit for your needs. I look forward to connecting with you!
