Hi, I’m Christian King, a counselor-in-training at District Counseling and a graduate student in Walsh University’s Clinical Mental Health Counseling program. I enjoy working with children, adolescents, and adults, and I utilize cognitive-behavioral and play-informed approaches to help clients navigate life’s challenges in a supportive and collaborative environment.

Working with children has always been a passion of mine. As a father of two young children, I understand both the joys and challenges that come with raising kids. I strive to create a safe, welcoming space where children can express themselves, build confidence, and learn healthy ways to manage difficult emotions.

Children often communicate through play more naturally than through conversation alone. By incorporating play, creativity, and age-appropriate activities into counseling, I help children explore their feelings, develop coping skills, and strengthen their ability to navigate challenges. I also believe parents are an essential part of the counseling process and enjoy partnering with families to support growth both in and outside of sessions.

 My experience also includes working with children on the autism spectrum, and I enjoy helping children and families build on their strengths while developing social, emotional, and behavioral skills.  

Many children benefit from having positive male role models who demonstrate that empathy, emotional awareness, and strength can go hand in hand. My goal is to provide a warm, encouraging, and judgment-free environment where children and families feel heard, respected, and empowered.

I am also a Christian and am happy to incorporate Christian values or practices when requested, while fully respecting and supporting clients of all backgrounds and beliefs.
