I strongly believe in the power of holding space for others and welcoming anything and everything they are feeling. Therapy provides a space for us to be fully seen, understood, and validated. Although that may sound a bit scary, seeking therapy is an investment in yourself, your future, and your overall well-being. I have a passion for assisting clients in their process of self-discovery. It is through this process that we can become more aligned with our authentic selves leading to a more fulfilling life. I believe this process is as much, if not more, about unlearning as it is about learning. You deserve to live your best life, and I am here to facilitate healing and acceptance to help you achieve that.
As a bilingual first generation Mexican-American, I understand the unique challenges & stressors that many individuals from diverse backgrounds experience. Learning how to navigate multiple cultures at once is difficult & can lead to feelings of guilt, shame, & anxiety. I am honored to support you as you embrace your roots while accepting & being proud of who you are.
My approach is systematic in nature, and I borrow from multicultural, person-centered, and psychodynamic therapy. I am also trained in EMDR therapy (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing) which helps relieve stress from traumatic events. Through this process, we get to the foundation of the negative core cognitions and beliefs, and work with the positive cognitions and resolutions.
I hold a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Sam Houston State University and a Bachelor of Science in Human Development and Family Studies from Stephen F. Austin State University. I am excited to work with you and become part of your community and support network.
