Hello! I am Monica Stiles, Licensed Professional Counselor-Associate under the supervision of Alice Payne, LPC-S, Registered Play Therapist-S. I obtained my Master of Science Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Houston – Victoria in May of 2022. In addition, I graduated from Sam Houston State University in 2016 with a Specialist Degree in School Psychology and currently hold a license as a Licensed Specialist in School Psychology. I have seven years of experience working in local school districts where I had the pleasure of working with children aged 3 through 21 who receive special education services and their families providing assessment and counseling services. While working with children and families in the schools, I have been able to help students reach their full potential by providing them with knowledge of coping skills, social skills, and various other skills appropriate to the school setting. I have experience completing evaluations and creating interventions for children experiencing ADHD, Autism, Intellectual Disability, Depression, Anxiety, and other various mental health difficulties.
I believe a collection of experiences throughout my life has led me to my calling of becoming a counselor and mental health advocate. I truly believe mental health is equally as important as physical health. I tailor my approach to the unique needs of my clients by utilizing an integrated approach combined with evidence based theories and interventions from Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Person-Centered, Solution Focused, and
various play therapy techniques. I enjoy working with children, adolescents, young adults, and families. Throughout my counseling experiences I have worked with clients on topics such as trauma, divorce, life transitions, anxiety, depression, Autism, ADHD, and relationship difficulties. I look forward to meeting you wherever you are in your journey and working alongside you as you accomplish your goals and create the life you desire.
