Chantal Choo
Hi, I’m Chantal, an LMSW who wholeheartedly cares for, supports, and advocates for those who enter into work with me. I believe the essence of being human possesses inherent value and dignity, so I hope to make all feel welcomed and valued in sessions with me. My goal is to approach every interaction from a place of curiosity and understanding, with a strengths-based perspective, and without judgment, to create a safe space where individuals can explore their thoughts, feelings, and emotions. I honor individuals as the experts of their own lives and take a collaborative approach to therapy, exploring how we can work together most effectively to address each client’s specific needs.
I use a biopsychosocial-spiritual model as a holistic approach to understanding and navigating challenges that come with the human experience, as it is multifaceted. I apply principles from Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Narrative Therapy to help clients identify their strengths, clarify their goals, challenge discouraging thought patterns and behaviors, and express their stories in ways that highlight resilience and create space for new possibilities. Additionally, I am currently receiving training in Interpersonal and Social Rhythm Therapy (IPSRT) and may incorporate aspects of this into sessions as well.
I have experience working with individuals from ages 14 to 55 in high-stress situations, navigating anxiety, cognitive dissonance, disenfranchised grief, relationship conflict, system-induced trauma, life transitions, and behavioral health challenges.
I look forward to providing grace and space for anyone who chooses to embark on the therapeutic journey with me, allowing them to be themselves, process at their own pace, and grow in ways that feel authentic and meaningful to them.
