Aylin Luna Vazquez – Counselor In-Training

Therapist in Houston-Cypress area

Hello! My name is Aylin Luna Vazquez, and I am a Counselor-in-Training at District Counseling. Ever since I can remember, I’ve always had an innate interest in people. Curious as to what motivates them, why they think the way they think and behave the way they do. Fascinated by the complexity of human behavior and relationships, I naturally chose a career where I could use this passion to help others.

I began my academic journey at the University of Houston’s main campus, where I earned a bachelor’s degree in Human Development and Family Studies with a minor in Psychology. After earning my undergraduate degree, I engaged in specialized training to assist and support individuals navigating crises during the 2020 pandemic. This impactful experience not only intensified my passion for mental health, but also inspired me to further explore career opportunities within the field.

Once the lockdown was lifted, eager to learn more, I started a position at a behavioral health center to work with adolescents facing diverse mental health challenges. Here, my position as a direct support professional made it even more clear to me that creating positive change was my true calling.

Understanding that counseling is what I wanted to do for a living, I returned to school, and I am currently pursuing a master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at the University of Houston-Clear Lake.

In my free time, I take pleasure in reading, editing photos, traveling, and spending time with loved ones. I am also proficient in both English and Spanish. While I am particularly passionate about assisting those navigating suicidal ideation, trauma, and intrusive thoughts, I truly hope to support anyone seeking guidance and deeper understanding.

When it comes to my approach to counseling, I find value in developing a deep understanding of the various dimensions of each person’s experiences and believe that healing is facilitated by an empathetic relationship. It is a priority of mine to create a warm and welcoming environment where clients can feel fully heard, deeply understood, and entirely free from judgment.

I truly believe in the idea that every person carries within them a unique inner wisdom and inherent ability for self-healing. My goal is to create a space where clients can explore their inner worlds and connect with their authentic selves. I value each person’s unique story and circumstances and I am committed to working collaboratively with clients to uncover insights, resolve conflicts, and facilitate personal growth.

As I grow in my counseling career, I’m excited to bring these values into my work, contribute meaningfully to the field of mental health counseling, and join you on your mental health journey!
