EMDR
Treatment

What is EMDR Therapy?
- Eye Movement Desensitization and
Reprocessing (EMDR) is a specialized
form of therapy designed to help the
brain "reprocess" trapped traumatic
memories so they no longer cause
emotional pain in the present.
- When we experience a high-stress or
traumatic event, the brain’s natural
processing system can become
overwhelmed. This causes the memory
to get "stuck" in its raw, emotional state.
EMDR helps move these memories from
a place of distress to a place of
resolution.
- EMDR uses Bilateral Stimulation (BLS)—
usually in the form of guided eye
movements, rhythmic tapping, or
auditory tones.

Why Out-of-Network
Protecting Your Confidentiality
When a therapist bills insurance directly, they arem often required to share sensitive mental health data, including a formal diagnosis and treatment notes.
Working out-of- network keeps your personal journey private between you and your therapist, rather than becoming a permanent part of an insurance database.
Clinical Independence
Insurance companies frequently attempt to dictate the "terms" of your healing.
This can include:
- Limiting the number of sessions you are allowed.
- Restricting the frequency of your visits.
- Mandating specific treatment types that may not be the best fit for you.
Personalized Care
By removing the "middleman," we have the freedom to co-create a treatment plan tailored entirely to your needs, rather than one dictated by corporate policy. This allows us to focus fully on your EMDR progress without the pressure of outside interference or arbitrary deadlines.
Note: To check your coverage, call your insurer and ask about your "out-of-network behavioral health benefits" to see what percentage of the cost they reimburse.
Your Questions, Answered
Unlike traditional therapy, EMDR doesn’t require rehashing painful events in detail. It works by activating your brain’s natural healing process using bilateral stimulation.
