LPC Associate

Therapist at District Counseling – Spring Branch (HABLO ESPAÑOL)

Hello, I am Claudia Zarate, an LPC Associate under the guidance of James L. Mena, M.A., LPC-S. I’m a proud United States Air Force veteran with 21 years of service and a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Houston Christian University. I truly understand the stigmas and difficulties surrounding mental health, especially for veterans and others seeking help. It’s my mission to break down these barriers and provide a safe, nurturing environment for my clients. I was inspired to pursue counseling after I went through the counseling process. It was a life-changing experience for me and I want to do the same for others.

I have a deep passion for helping individuals navigate life’s challenges and empowering them to embrace their true selves. As your counselor, I will create a warm and supportive space for you to explore your thoughts and feelings, equip you with coping strategies, and work alongside you to achieve meaningful changes in your life.

I have experience counseling children as young as 8, teens, and adults of all ages experiencing depression, anxiety, ADHD, relationship difficulties, domestic violence, grief, self-esteem, life transitions, and more.   I offer in-person and telehealth counseling and as a bilingual counselor, I am pleased to offer my services in English and Spanish.

On a personal note, I have been married, we have 3 children and 2 Schnauzer pups. Our family loves to travel, attend rock and country music concerts, and spend time together.  I enjoy reading fictional books, gardening, and walking outdoors.  I look forward to meeting and walking alongside you in your healing journey.
