John Salvaggio

Counselor-In-Training

Here to help you.

Supervised by Francisco Ortiz, LPC-Supervisor 78023.

Hi, I’m John! I’m a Houston native, husband, father, and counselor-in-training who genuinely enjoys getting to know people and hearing their stories.

I attended St. Pius X High School and later graduated from Sam Houston State University, where I earned degrees in Psychology and Criminal Justice. I’m currently continuing my education at Southern New Hampshire University, where I’m pursuing my graduate degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling.

Outside of school and counseling, my family is a huge part of who I am. I’m married and a proud dad, and we have two dogs who are definitely considered part of the family. When I have some free time, you’ll probably find me watching or talking about sports, playing games, getting lost in some kind of nerdy hobby, or spending time with my family. I’ve always been a bit of a nerd, and I think that curiosity has helped me appreciate how different and interesting every person’s story can be.

As a counselor-in-training, my goal is to create a space where people can feel comfortable being themselves without fear of judgment. I believe counseling is about meeting people where they are, listening to understand rather than simply respond, and working together to find a path forward. I don’t believe anyone has to have everything figured out before asking for help.

I’m grateful for the opportunity to continue learning, growing, and developing as a counselor, and I look forward to getting to know the people I have the privilege of working with.
