My name is Ridhi Mehra. I am a counselor-in-training at District Counseling while pursuing my Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at the University of Houston. I am under the supervision of Cynthia L. Rojas, MA, LPC.
Ever since I was a young girl, I’ve had an innate curiosity about people’s lives. What makes us who we are? Why do we make different life choices and take divergent paths? I’m fascinated by analyzing nature vs. nurture, and how much free will plays a part in disrupting the system. As a former Emmy award winning journalist, I used to tell people’s stories. Now as a counselor, I will help you navigate your personal story toward an ending as close to your “happily ever after” as possible.
To thine own self be true.~William Shakespeare
I grew up in the Houston area and earned my bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas at Austin. I’m a second-generation Indian American and am very cognizant of how different cultural norms and expectations play a role in shaping one’s life. Practicing tolerance, inclusion, and acceptance of everyone has been my lifelong mantra.
I’m especially motivated to help you find your inner peace, achieve that intricate balance, and evolve into a more purposeful person. Everyone is capable of change, but you must want to change and be willing to put in the work to become your authentic self. I will assist you in adjusting your unhelpful thoughts in a journey to behavior practices more aligned with your goals. I counsel with compassion in a safe space to help you empower yourself. I strongly believe you are the master of your fate, the captain of your ship, and that you shape your own destiny.
My favorite thing to do is to connect with people. I love spending time with family and friends, checking out Houston’s diverse dining scene, and getting lost in a good book while traveling. I’m happily married and the mother of two very active teenagers.
