Therapist in Sugar Land
My name is Rebecca Perez, MA, LPC. I have always had a passion for helping people. Growing up in Houston into a large, blended family, I learned firsthand how to deal with relationships of all kinds. I received my BS degree in Counseling Psychology from Texas A&M University. I then went on to receive a master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from the University of Oregon in 1995.
At the U. of O. I had the honor of counseling veterans suffering from PTSD and childhood trauma. I use Psychodynamic, Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) to help my clients. I am EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing) trained and believe this helps to facilitate the processing and healing of unwanted trauma responses.
My own experiences and my desire to help others has allowed me to see ways that can help to heal. I believe strongly that there is a solution and that we needn’t live in a cycle of suffering. We can overcome and be free of emotional pain caused by trauma and childhood experiences. I want to help my clients process the pain and confront self-destructive behaviors that can sometimes result from life’s betrayals. We then have a choice to change our mindset and develop healthy behaviors that lead to more self-esteem, better relationships, and peace in our lives.
If you have the desire to be free from emotional pain that has taken a toll on your relationships, marriage, work, and social life. I would love to help you navigate the healing process. I will assist you in taking the necessary action to change the narrative with forgiveness, love, kindness, and compassion. This new understanding of ourselves results in positive change. A newfound freedom can be a reality in your life.
That which heals you, makes you stronger.
