Rebecca Burke
Hi! My name is Rebecca.
I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapy-Associate supervised by Yvonne Oke, MA, LMFT-S and Julie Ung, MA, LMFT-S, LPC-S. I received my master’s degree in Applied Behavioral Analysis from the Chicago School of Professional Psychology in 2014. I initially began working with individuals with disabilities in day programs and group homes. As time went on, I discovered I had a passion for counseling and decided to enroll in a master’s degree program in Marriage and Family Therapy at Edgewood College in Wisconsin. I received my degree in 2021 and moved down to Houston with my husband the same year.
I have experience working with individuals 18+ and couples. I primarily support clients dealing with depression, anxiety, disordered eating and eating disorders, life transitions, marital work, premarital counseling, and stress management. Due to knowledge and experience I currently only work with individuals 18 and older. Therapeutic modalities I employ include, but are not limited to, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and the Gottman method. Given that everyone has their own unique experiences and needs, I will adapt my therapeutic approach to best fit your individual circumstances.
I view the therapeutic relationship as a collaboration in which we work together to manage whatever challenges you may be experiencing. Every person’s needs and experiences are exclusive to their journey, and my goal is to understand your unique story and provide a safe space for you to embrace and explore your own individual thoughts, emotions, and perceptions. As we work together, I will support you emotionally and provide you with tools and techniques to utilize outside of our sessions as you continue to navigate your day to day.
Outside of work I enjoy weightlifting, scary movies, reading, and spending time with my husband and our two cats.
