Rachel Rao
I am Rachel Rao. I am a Counselor-in-training at the District Counseling Sugar Land location under the supervision of Cynthia L. Rojas, LPC. I am currently pursuing my Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at the University of Houston-Main Campus.
I am a first-generation immigrant and resident of Missouri City, Texas. I am bilingual in English and Mandarin Chinese. In my personal life, I am a soul, a healer, a wife, and a mother of 3 little kids and 2 German shepherd dogs. I enjoy reading, meditation, and being around people. In 2020, I started my spiritual awakening journey. I have so much passion, faith, and love for human beings and life. I’m increasing my consciousness and becoming my true self. I want to devote my energy to helping people with mental health and wellness because I love and care from my heart. Thus, I made the career transition from my previous successful CPA career to
counseling.
During my 7 years of the public accounting profession, I enjoyed helping thousands of individuals, families, and businesses with financial, taxation, and business strategies in various industries, including doctors, lawyers, entrepreneurs, engineers, investors, etc. I gained insights into the real world from a variety of perspectives. I also understand the huge stress and difficult challenges of various life stages.
My counseling approach is a holistic approach that focuses on a person’s physical, emotional, social, and spiritual well-being. I integrate multiple of my favorite counseling approaches based on clients’ specific goals and counseling needs with a person-centered-oriented foundation.
In therapy, I am an open-minded, curious, genuine, and out-of-the-box thinker. I connect with clients through unconditional positive regard, empathy, and genuine therapeutic relationship. I truly believe everyone is unique and each painful challenge is a task and a hidden opportunity for us to grow. As a counselor, my role is to empower and facilitate clients to increase self-awareness, self-acceptance, and self-love, reflect the unconscious mindset, gain insights into life events, build up skills and resilience, and accomplish self-actualization ultimately.
Thank you for reading my bio. I look forward to supporting you on your life adventure.
